What is Lent?
The English word Lent is a shortened form of the Old English word Len(c)ten, which means “spring.” In early Christianity, the term was used to refer to the fortieth day before Easter.
Traditionally, this religious observance covered a period of 7 weeks before Easter Sunday, beginning on Ash Wednesday every year and continuing for 40 days until Easter Sunday.
During this Lent season (March 5-April 19), we're asking you to commit to three things: prayer, fasting and giving.
